Mist Tree Scene - a soundscape

Mist Tree Scene is a generative ambient soundscape written in SuperCollider made from endless randomized loops of digitally-manipulated recorded audio.

Listen:

I made this piece in 2022 while at an artist residency at MonsonArts with The Monson Seminar. This piece was inspired by a photograph by Jack Fulton from his 1978 book, 2 Saunters: Summer & Winter.

The recorded sounds include: the sounds of the wind and bird calls from the woods in Monson, sounds of dropping sticks, electric bass guitar, synthesizer, and a time-stretched recording of a singing wine glass (see my blog post, "Microscopic Sound" for more details about this process!) among other glass sounds.

Photograph inspiration by Jack Fulton

A photograph of trees spread out in a field which seems to go on forever. The sun is shining at the horizon through the mist and the trees.
